ODE TO BILL - A CASE STUDY
The Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon
INCEPTION
During an early morning walk along the river Avon I was inspired to create my heron mosaic. Â It was very frosty and chilly when I saw the heron in his usual place just in front of the Holy Trinity Church. Â After a few photographs to capture the spirit of the moment, I returned to my studio to start on some preliminary sketches.

CREATION
Much of my work is created on exterior grade ply-wood. Â The reverse side is treated with yacht varnish so is suitable for outdoor use. Â I usually start by selecting the mosaic materials I want to use. Â Using a range of iridescent, vitreous and monochromatic pearl glass I can create interesting light effects to truly capture the image I want.
COMPLETION
After a week's work, the piece was finished ready to be hung indoors or screwed to an exterior wall.  Application of sealant around the edges of the mosaic will ensure many years of frost-resistant pleasure.
